Eddie, the epicure by sari

Long time since my last post.

The reason why I was worried about Eddie “having a long pee” outside was that he is such an epicure and finds out “food” in so many places.

The other day I noticed him having some digestion problems. It all started like the one with Ella; having the funny burps and heartburn. Although I knew in my head that it isn’t what Ella had, I still was so worried in my heart that it could develop to the same Ella had (and caused her death at the age of 2).

Eddie had eaten some sharp bones he found and who knows what else too so I thought that after vomiting some of the harp bones they might have hurt his gullet. I tried to find the medication to that (even though he might not have needed it but I just couldn’t stop worrying) but I couldn’t so I drove 40 km to the pharmacy in the capital area (and back) to have medication for him. When I was back home with the “new” medication I also found the “old” ones.

I gave him the medication that protected his gullet & tripe for two days and gave them a change to recover from the harp bones etc. I was worried about it getting worse (to the one that Ella had, and yes it was just a feeling but a terrible one).

Luckily I had the first aid in my fridge for the sharp objects in the stomach: asparagus. This is what I learned a year ago when Alfie had eaten some staples. Asparagus collects the sharp objects and wrap them so that they do not hurt digestion system. This helped Alfie and he did not have to go to the surgery to get rid of the stables.

Eddie is now fine and apparently I haven’t fully recovered from Ella’s death. Anyway it is not always healthy for the dogs to eat everything they find.

I have been a bit worried about Baxter. When he eats if it is not soaked he has to stop mid way & it looks as though the food is stuck. I was wondering if it was similar to Ella’s so I took him to the vet yesterday. She thinks he is eating too fast & not chewing enough so has asked for the food to be soaked for 15 mins. This is addressing the issue. She was not too worried because he is not being sick & he is not coughing. After jumping & leaping around the animal hospital (he wanted to go to training & not the vets & made his unhappiness known) she was able to see that his heart & lungs were functioning well.

Thankfully he sat on her feet & let her give him some attention at the end. They are still friends.

Unfortunately Finley is the dustbin of the dog world & it does not even need to be edible.
