We have finally had some warm milky winter sun so I was able to take a photo in the conservatory which wasn’t grey & muddy.I would like to say thank you to Sari & everyone who helped in the production of the beautiful calendar.I have shown it to everyone & it certainly seems that Flatcoats in Finland have a good time.
It is lovely.
My second photo is of the measures I have had to take to stop Finley the belligerent destroyer from going into number tens garden. He keeps poking his chocolate nose back through the fence towards me with a bit of fence in his mouth. It is very funny however I am trying not to encourage him.I think I need to get someone quickly to replace the fence panels he has chewed.
Lastly they are predicting cold weather from Russia will come over to the UK.I hope it will snow. Here in Hampshire we have only had half a day’s snow this winter.I took the boys out to play in it & took some photos. It was dark and I couldn’t really see what I was taking photos of.There were a lot of tails, bottoms & 2 and 4 reflective eyes in the black.
Eddie & Baxter are now big brothers.Their mum Brandyhas given birth to 2 liver boys and 1 liver girl and 4 black bitches and 2 black dogs. 9 in Total. Mother (Brandy) and Jane the breeder are proud of the new additions.
Baxter’s favourite toy is his flying ring. After testing many models we have settled on this rubber ring.It can be pulled, tugged & chewed without being destroyed.Finley is happy to let Baxter carry the toy but does insist on joining in the game once we reach the fields.
Eddie has a nasty eye infection and Alfie has been “shaking” his head for awhile (ears) so I book an appointment for them. They both have now trops for next 1½ weeks; Alfie for his ear infection and Eddie for his eye infection.
There is also a scale in that place and I was a bit surprised how my “tiny & little” boys were heavy. Alfie was 39 kg’s and Eddie 34.8 kg’s. Both of them in trim condition so they are not overweight but they are not small (in size) either. I wish the boys were a bit smaller (in size) than what they are but the most important thing is that they are healthy and happy dogs.
I also booked them hip & elbow e-ray + knee examination for 27/3.
First I would like to welcome Michelle & the “bad” boys. It is good to have you here too.
Today on our forest walk the boys had a bit of disagreement who can eat the guts of a deer. This has been just shot today (wasn’t there yesterday). Sharing the guts would be too much to ask
So here is a shot video of the boys trying to figure out who is the man. It was quite dark already during our walk so the quality of the video isn’t the best.
By the way; I applied for a hunting course and was accepted. This will be in February 17-19, 4 hours each day followed by exam.
I also applied for my employer’s hunting club (eg company club) and you need to have passed the test in order to join the club. Anyway I applied already informing about upcoming course.
Now I need to start learning about laws, different kind of games, shooting etc. Wish me luck!
Sari has kindly given me access to add to the blog.So meet the Bad Boys.Baxter is Eddie’s brother & he lives with Finley. At 22 month & 6 months old respectively I have my hands full.
We live in England on the North Hampshire / Berkshire border. To the North of our village is the Duke of Wellingtons estate & designated green belt, to the south of the village is an army training area so the boys are used to running round the countryside and the sound of low flying helicopters, shooting and bombing. As a result they are very steady with new noises.
In January & February the weather is not good in England.Today is a grey, dark and wet day and we have had so much rain recently we will run the risk of flooding in the village if it continues nonstop for another week. As a result all the photos I took today required a flash & are still dark.
With the weather being so poor most training is indoors. On a Saturday I take Finley to the improvers training which is basic obedience and some agility.Baxter is training for his Kennel Club Good Citizen exam.As yet we have still not mastered the sit & stay (Baxter gets up moved towards me & sits down again) & we only have a couple of weeks to go.Fingers crossed he will eventually get it.Once I get myself organised we are hoping to go the ring craft on a Thursday night.
On Sunday the boys get a good run round one of the heaths or forests nearby.Today we went to the heath. They run, leap in the water, splash through the puddles and meet and greet everyone.Baxter & Finley drink the muddy water and eat any juicy morsels left by the animal visitors to the heath in the night.Muddy & exhausted we return home.
Weekday mornings the walks are closer to home & tend to be with their canine friends, Ozzy the black Labrador, Robbo the English setter, Nash the Labrador cross, Dylan the collie, Hector the golden retriever and soon to join us is Eddie the yellow Labrador puppy from no 23. Baxter’s sense of fun & need to play starts the group off. There is running, barking, chasing the ball & the Frisbee. It is really lovely to see the good natured playing.Happy & socialised they walk home.
While I am writing this I have had to recover Finley from the neighbour’s garden. He went straight through the wooden fence & the fence now has an attractive Labrador shaped hole.Yes Finley the belligerent destroyer is going through adolescence. His number one favourite item to destroy is my top of the range Bosh washing machine which is now held together with brown parcel tape. As you can imagine in a white kitchen, a very noticeable addition.
We are going to sign off now.I need to get ready for work tomorrow & clean the mud off the radiator & everything else they have touched today.I think my war against the mud may be a battle I will lose. They are both fast asleep & twitching so I can only assume they have had a good day.
