Melting

29.11.2008 at 22:01 by sari

The snow is melting :(

It is quite wet outside. Yesterday it was raining heavily and the snow is now melting. It has been quite humid today with no rain.

The boys had lady visitors today: 2 golden retrievers and one flattie.

I was quite happy how they behaved as they did not try to jump on top of the girls at all.

We did about 6 km walk in the forest (the GPS was not on from the start), and you can see the route here with photos.

Just before the girls were about to leave we did a small training with raven. One of the goldens showed how to hold the bird as my boys tend to drop it too soon.

This is how beautiful it was just couple of days ago.

Snow is great!

Thank you Michelle

The boys had a surprise today: a package arrived from UK.

It was a Flatcoated Retriever calendar from Eddie’s brother Baxter + his roommate Finley.

That was a very lovely present Michelle! Thank you very much.

Ps. Flatcoats are impatient, they couldn’t wait until Christmas…

Walk

Today was a nice day in the forest with the boys. Also quite hard: new snow and it was very heavy to walk.

It took 55 minutes to walk about 4 kilometres, but there were no tracks to follow. Only new snow. Also I could not walk too much since Otto wanted to join us + it was quite late and getting dark.

You can see the walk with photos in the Nokia Sports Tracker page.

Before going for a wal in the snowstorm I installed Nokia Sports Tracker Beta to my mobile phone.

Then I went for a walk. Unfortunately I had forgotten to check the battery before I left and run out of it in the middle of the walk. The dogs loved the snowstorm outside.

You can find the details of our walk here (with 3 photos). I also drew the missing part of the walk in red to the Google version.

The walk in the forest

I think we walked about 5 kilometres in total which was more than planty for Otto (who had a heart attack just over a week ago). 5 km is ok for the flatties but they can do more and I think they did that by running forth and back all the time. Maybe I should strap my mobile photo to one of my dogs and see how it looks in the map.

You can now join the grou “Walking the flatcoats” in the Tracker. Please do.

After a long day playing in the snow it is time to take it easy and relax.

Enjoying the snow

21.11.2008 at 18:43 by sari

Boys are happy that we had some snow, even the little that we have for now. According to the weather forecast  there’s planty of snow on Sunday . Let’s hope so.

We left Otto home to rest when we left for a walk in the forest. Like Michelle suggested Otto was relaxing by the fire.
