I’m trying to do my best to get my new house look nice + having textures + everything else “dog friendly”. My last place had wooden floor and in couple of years it looked quite bad. The laminate floor that I have here in my new place is ok, no claw marks, but it is quite slippery for older dogs (like Otto who is visiting us all the time. I need to help him get up). In the kitchen I have wooden floor but after moving in I covered it up with plastic matting that looks like wooden floor. It has been excellent because I have a big pond in the front yard and boys can be quite wet when they came back inside. Laminate will not last for long if it gets wet, nor wooden floor.

Kitchen (starring Anna & Ramin)

In the hallway I have tile floor which is good too but in Finland it needs heating system (during the winter) and can be quite expensive in the long run.

    Hi,

I have found turtle mats really good for muddy dogs & protecting floors. You can throw them in the washing machine & tumble dryer & they come up like new.

There are also different backings for different floors.

I also bought Pergo flooring & because it has a texture the boys do not slip. It has a 15 yesr guarentee.

It is water proof & washes down well.

    Thank you Michelle.

I now have two turtlemats. Let’s hope they’ll help with the mud, moisture, sand and everything else the dogs bring inside.

The Pergo floor seem interesting. I need to learn more about it. Thanks for the hint.

Say hi to brother Baxter from Eddie + Finley too.
