Saturday tour

20.12.2008 at 21:38 by sari

Today I though of getting to know the forest a bit better and walked a bit more than 5km and turned back. I haven’t done that tour many times yet. The forest is so huge that I have been lost several times. Now that I use the Sports Tracker I can see where I have walked earlier and navigate back to the track. Today I went as much as I could without having the feeling of getting lost and making the tour too long (Otto was with us).

Our tour with locations where I took photos.

I was surprised how Otto was ok during and after the walk. He had a heart attach last month. At first I did not let him come for a walks with us but then I was sent a link to a doctor’s website where he tells about how the mind interacts your health. The happier you are the better you feel. So I though that if Otto wants to come for a walk with us he can, I’m not stopping him. And I think he seems a bit healthier now after our forest walks etc.

At one point on the way back Otto fell down and I had to help him up. I guess it was quite slippery there and when pulling him up I might have accidentially put the tracker on pause. Lucily you can correct that later on.

My boys were just running all the time. They are healthy and fit :)

Boys after 5km. The weather isn't too great. Snow is melting.

ps. I’m on vacation and going back to work on Monday December 29. Yippee!

Visitors

Maremmano-Abruzzeses keep visiting us sometimes. There are 5 of them. They come across the forest from somewhere. I have met the owners couple of times but I can’t quite spotĀ  where they live.

Visitors Visitors

As you can see in the photos (taken this morning) we have almost lost the snow.

The dogs (mine and the Maremmanos) love the big pond in my garden during the summer time. I have mentioned the dogs in my Finnish blog (with photos).

Aren’t my boys popular or what? They keep having visitors all the time (Otto is here everyday and even spends the nights).

Dog Treadmills

11.12.2008 at 18:29 by sari

We were a bit surprised to have a dog treadmill ad in our mailbox today. After our 1h 17min adventure in the snowy forest we wen to pick up the mail. And there it was. The ad.

I can understand treadmills in the vet practices but getting one for home? Even though I have cross trainer myself, but one for dogs just to build up the muscles? I have heard that “water treadmills” are good after surgery and getting a dog back to action.

Here is example of good exercise for healthy dogs (to build up muscles too):

Boy did we have fun today or what.

Sausage

I had a phone call yesterday asking if wanted to be in a TV commercial. Last spring I was helping with a Finnish movie that comes out next March and that’s how they seem to know how to contact me.

Unfortunately I had to turn them down this time as it was in such sort notice but I could have said that I have two flatties who would just love to be in that commercial. It is about sausages.
